Everglades Morning

A few weeks ago a fellow plein air painter and I explored a new area along Highway 41 South.  We were able to set up in a covered observation tower where this view could be seen.  As we worked, water birds flew in and out of the marshy area just below us. There were herons, egrets, ducks and even some Roseate Spoonbills which have become rare around here. It was truly a wonderful morning.

For some reason, we lost track of each other.  The good news is that I have been out painting every week with quite a few results. Also, I have added paintings to a website. This marsh scene painting was part of a great family "Beach Week" vacation. The island was a delight of natural beauty and the beach was fun for all.

Since my last Everglades painting has sold, I am showing a few others. This is an old cottage on Ft. Myers Beach. It is a hurricane survivor!

Everglades Adventure

A few days ago I drove out toward the Everglades to photograph the wonderful summer cloud formations. When I saw a good "photo op" I pulled off the highway and found myself at the entrance to an airboat ride concession. The views were magnificent, the manager very friendly, and soon I was set up and painting. I finished about the time a shower came across the sawgrass. When I stopped by the office to thank them I was invited to go along on an airboat ride. What an exhilerating experience it is to soar smoothly across the top of the water, crossing lakes and passing through mangrove tunnels! I will remember that glorious day every time I look at this painting. It is already hanging (though slightly wet) in Dennison-Moran Gallery and can be yours with one phone call to 239-263-0219.
